Confrontation [SEU part 3]

Reflections on confrontation tonight. Something I’ve learned a lot about during my time at SEU.

It’s incredibly difficult to be a person. We’re all figuring things out. Trying to balance work and social life and spirituality and paying bills and remembering to call our moms (if we’re blessed enough to still have them in our life).

Confrontation is a necessity and it shows up, for me, in two ways.

The first is this:
My personality struggles with coming to grips with the fact that I messed up. My core does not like to admit that I am wrong. However, it is so important to confront the pride. It’s equally important to confront and let go of shame.

Secondly, it is important to be able to confront others. The adversity of living means there’s a piece of all of us that wants to be known. It’s a deep longing buried in our souls. So to confront issues with someone else must be done with so much love and kindness and grace and mercy.

It will be okay.

Life is to be taken very seriously and also not so seriously all at once. It’s a challenging and risky task, but it’s ours for the taking.

“My counsel for you is simple and straightforward: Just go ahead with what you’ve been given. You received Christ Jesus, the Master; now live him. You’re deeply rooted in him. You’re well constructed upon him. You know your way around the faith. Now do what you’ve been taught. School’s out; quit studying the subject and start living it! And let your living spill over into thanksgiving.”

Colossians 2:6-7 MSG

It will be okay.
We can do it.
It’s all beautiful right here.

much love,
