Cotton candy clouds and a bright, golden day - just hot enough for a big soft serve ice cream and you're on your lunch break. So you run up to your favorite ice cream store that, actually, almost feels just like home. You're an adult at this point, so you figure, "Maybe I should get a small one to make sure I'm stayin' fit. Mmmm nahhh I'll just get a large yolo." Your smile is bigger than the sun today and that ice cream hits the spot.
You probably could've still had a great day without the ice cream. After all, you didn't actually need the ice cream. You just wanted it.
Not gonna lie. I've wanted to be like that ice cream sometimes.
I've wanted to be wanted, even when I'm not needed.
If this is something you've been struggling with recently, then...just to let you know...same.
But can I tell you a truth about God?
He wants to be wanted. He longs to be wanted. He waits for your heart. He closely holds on to the trust we give to Him.
My default seems to be going to a person before I go to God. While people are great, you and I both know that people fail. The only sustaining thing I've found is hope in Jesus.
So let this be a reminder: You are wanted. And all you need to bring is yourself, even if it's in a box full of broken pieces.
"For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through encouragement of Scriptures we might have hope."
Romans 15:4 (esv)
